Additional Accommodation
The build is at substantial completion stage with most snags attended to at present. The classroom is in use since the beginning of the school year.
Say Yes to Languages Programme
5th and 6th class will have the opportunity to participate in the Say Yes to Languages Programme. Pupils will participate in French lessons over the course of 10 weeks.
School Hot Meals Programme
We were not included in the Schools Hot Meal Programme for this academic year.

Additional Accommodation Update
The 2nd fix of carpentry, electrical and plumbing have been completed. The flooring is also complete. Painting has commenced and the built-in furniture will be installed after the painting is completed. The additional classroom will be ready for use in September.
Schoolbooks Grant
The school books grant is being continued for the academic year 2024/2025. The school will supply schoolbooks, workbooks and copies for the pupils.
School Meals Programme
The school has applied for The School Meals Programme.
School Reopening
School will reopen after the summer break on Wednesday 28th August for the academic year 2024/2025.

The tenders have been received and opened. A Tender Report has been prepared and sent to the Department of Education to seek approval to proceed.
Summer Works Scheme
The consultants have completed a pre-tender budget and are awaiting approval from the Department of Education to go to tender.
Child Protection
The checklist for Review of the Child Safeguarding Statement was completed.
Anti-Bullying Policy
The board completed the checklist for annual review of the anti-bullying policy and its implementation.

Due to Covid 19 restrictions this Board meeting took place through Zoom.

The Board of Management would like to extend a very warm welcome to Mrs Maria Mulligan our new third class teacher.
The board wish the outgoing 6th class the best of luck as they transfer to secondary school this coming September.

Board of Management Summary Report – Term 1 2019/2020
- Contact is to be made yet again with Clár, re. funding for development of play area. Parents are to be asked to raise the issue of Ballyhaise being included in the Clár scheme with local representatives.
- The possibility of a zebra crossing being provided outside the school is to be investigated with Cavan Co. Council
- A review of the implementation of the Anti Bullying Policy was carried out.
- The method of selection of new parent representatives to the B.O.M was discussed and Option 2 was the preferred one.
The chairperson proposed a vote of thanks to the members for all their hard work during the term of the Board, which has now come to an end.
Summary Report Board of Management Term 3 2018/2019
- Change of Opening Time to 9am. w/e August 28 2019. Dismissal time 1.40pm (infants)/2.40pm (all other classes)
- Building of new classroom has commenced
- New play area development – efforts to secure funding for same are ongoing.
- Emergency Works – funding has been secured for remedial works re ventilation on the old corridor, and also for an upgrade of the Fire Alarm System – to commence shortly
- The following policies have been reviewed/ratified by the Board – Special Education, Substance Abuse. Whistleblowing, Supervision.
- Application for extra ICT funding has been made to the DES
- Thanks to the Parents Association for funding to purchase seven tablets for pupil use,

Summary Report Board of Management Term 2 2018/2019

The Board of Management are delighted to announce that 5th and 6th class will be taking part in the Cycle Right Initiative after Easter. This practical cycle safety and training initiative is part funded by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport.
School Self Evaluation – Staff are continuing to work hard on this. Guided reading will start in some classes after Easter.
New Accommodation – Planning permission was granted and the tender process for a building contractor is near complete.
Best of luck to 5th and 6th class as they take part in the Junior Entrepreneur Programme (J.E.P.). Thank you to Ms Mc Cormack and Mrs Brady who are supporting this initiative.
The Board of Management is considering an earlier start time for school (Academic Year 2019 / 2020). Parental views will be obtained. The Board of Management remains the decision making body in this regard.

Board of Management Summary Report Term 2 2017 /2018
Transfer of Land
The Board of Management of St. Mary’s National School is delighted to report that the land is now ceded to St. Mary’s National School. We are not eligible for Clar funding. The Board of Management is currently exploring other options for funding.
Anti Bullying
This policy was updated with a couple of minor amendments. This was ratified by the Board.
Child Protection
The Board of Management have formally adopted the procedures outlined in Child Protection Procedures for Primary and Post Primary School 2017. School will be closed on Tuesday 5th June to facilitate staff training in relation to this.
The Board of Management wish the Communion and Confirmation classes every good wish when they receive the sacraments later this term.
School will reopen for pupils on Wednesday 29th June 2017.

Transfer of Land – progress is made and the process is nearing a conclusion

Board of Management Summary Report September 2017
- Child Protection Policy -The Child Protection Policy was reviewed and approved by the board. This policy is available to view by all parents. Please contact the office should you wish to do so.
- Additional Member of Staff -The board would like to formally welcome Kerri Smith to the teaching staff.
- Repair and Maintenance -Work was carried out during the summer. Maintenance work was carried out on the grounds. The reception hall, offices and two classrooms rooms were painted. Further works will be carried out in due course.
- Transfer of Land (Transfer of Land to the Parish) – this legal process is still ongoing.
- Additional Accommodation – The board is delighted to announce they have successfully secured funding for an additional classroom.

New Play Area (transfer of this land from the parish to the school) – This legal process is still ongoing.
As part of the Boards agreed repair and maintenance plan for the school internal painting work will be carried out over the summer
Policy update
- The updated Code of Behaviour Policy was reviewed, discussed and ratified by the board. All parents were given a copy of this policy.
- The school Relationship and Sexuality Policy (RSE) has been reviewed and ratified by the board
The board wishes to take this opportunity to thank all parents and for their support throughout the year.
The board has contacted the county council in relation to traffic congestions and the possibility of placing pedestrian lights near the school.
The board is currently applying to DES for funding for additional accommodation.
The board reminds all parents that school opens at 9:20 a.m. for the reception of children. There is a reception period between 9:20 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.
The board once again requests that all parents to adhere to the agreed procedures for the contacting the school. Please contact the office to make an appointment at a mutually convenient time should you wish to speak to a member of staff.

- The Book Rental Scheme is new in operation in the school and will be extended to include Maths and SESE in the new school year.
- The school’s three year numeracy plan will target problem solving and with resources in place it will start in September.
- The BOM has decided to implement the Catholic Schools Partnership Process.
- The Board wishes to sincerely thank Hubert Conaty for his 40 years of dedicated service to St. Mary’s N.S. and wish him well in his retirement.
- The Board extends a warm welcome to our new principal, Deirdre Sheridan and wishes her well in her new role.

Board of Management Summary Report 2013/2014
- The schools ‘WSE Report’ is now available as a link from the school website.
- All members of the staff have taken a refresher course in First Aid.
- ‘Friendship Week’ was introduced in the school in October. Activities which took place included – design a ‘Friendship Poster,’ create a ‘Friendship Slogan’, and Stay Safe lessons on bullying. Parents were informed of an ‘Anti-Bullying Talk’ organised by the NPC which took place in the Cavan Crystal Hotel during this week.
- The school’s ‘Anti-Bullying Policy’ has been updated and approved by the BOM.
- The school’s book rental scheme has been set up and will begin operation in September. A new book covering machine has been bought to cover all books being rented.

Board of Management Summary Report 2012/2013
- Having contacted Cavan Co. Council on a number of occasions the Board is now pleased with the work that has been done to date on the traffic calming measures in the vicinity of the school.
- Work on the infant play area has started and it will be equipped and completed for September 2013.
- The Whole School Evaluation report has been received by the school. The Board is very pleased with the findings. Congratulations to all concerned. You can access the report on the Department of Education and Skills website.
- Since Rebecca Neligan is leaving the school this year the Board wishes to sincerely thank her for her valuable contribution to the school over the past two years. On behalf of the whole school community the members wish her every happiness and success.
